Why alerts matter

Smart Accumulator runs continuously in the background on your TradingView chart — but you won't always be watching. Alerts let the system notify you in real time the moment a Smart Zone triggers, so you can review the signal, check your available bucket balance, and act with confidence. Alerts can be delivered via push notification, email, or webhook depending on your TradingView plan.

Part One

Setting Up Alerts in TradingView

Smart Accumulator supports four alert conditions — one per zone, plus a catch-all "Any Zone" alert. We recommend setting up all four so you never miss a signal regardless of which zone triggers.

1
Open the Alerts panel in TradingView

Click the clock icon (⏰) in the right-hand toolbar, or press Alt+A. Then click Create Alert (the + button).

2
Set the Condition source

In the first dropdown, select Smart Accumulator by Tom Makin from the list of indicators on your chart.

ℹ️

If you don't see it in the list, make sure Smart Accumulator is added to your chart first. Go to Indicators → Invite-Only Scripts → Smart Accumulator.

3
Choose the alert condition

In the second dropdown, select your target zone:

Alert Condition Dropdown
Large Smart Zone Signal● Recommended first
Medium Smart Zone Signal
Small Smart Zone Signal
Any Smart Zone SignalCatch-all
4
Set Trigger to "Once Per Bar Close"

This is critical. Smart Accumulator signals are confirmed at bar close — setting the trigger to anything else may cause false alerts mid-bar.

⚠️

Important: Always use Once Per Bar Close. Do not use "Once" or "Every Bar" — these will produce incorrect behaviour.

5
Set Expiration to Open-ended

Under Expiration, choose Open-ended so your alert never expires. Name the alert clearly so you know which zone and ticker triggered it:

Recommended alert name format
🟢 TICKER — Large Smart Zone
🟡 TICKER — Medium Smart Zone
🔵 TICKER — Small Smart Zone

Recommended: Enable both App notification and Email. Push gives instant awareness; email gives you a searchable record of every signal.

7
Save and repeat for remaining zones

Click Create to save. Repeat steps 1–7 for the Medium and Small zones. When complete you will have three active zone alerts plus optionally a catch-all.

💡

Multiple tickers: Repeat the full process for each asset you're tracking. Include the ticker in your alert name so you know which asset triggered at a glance.

Part Two

When an Alert Fires — What to Do

An alert is a prompt to review — not an automatic instruction. Smart Accumulator has already simulated the deployment in the indicator. The alert is your cue to check the chart and optionally act in your real brokerage account.

Quick review checklist

Check your available bucket balance

Open the chart and look at the dashboard. The Available Cash section shows how much remains in each bucket — this tells you the scale of capital the system would deploy.

Confirm the zone is still active

Alerts fire at bar close. If price has bounced significantly since close, check whether the zone band is still nearby before acting.

Check your VWAP Alpha

Glance at the Alpha row. If you're already accumulating well below VWAP, this signal adds to a strong position. Use your own judgement to size accordingly.

Act in your brokerage at your discretion

Smart Accumulator does not execute real trades. Use the signal as a guide for your actual buy order. The indicator shows you the opportunity — the decision is always yours.

Part Three

Troubleshooting

I'm not receiving notifications

Check that the alert is still active and not paused or expired in your Alerts panel. Verify that TradingView push notifications are enabled in your phone's system notification settings.

I received an alert but can't see a triangle on the chart

Alerts fire at bar close. If you check your chart mid-bar after receiving the notification, the triangle will appear once that bar officially closes. Refresh after the bar has closed.

The Small zone alert fires too frequently

This is expected — the Small zone is the most sensitive. If disruptive, disable it and monitor visually on the chart. Focus active alerts on the Large and Medium zones.

My alert expired

When creating the alert ensure Expiration is set to Open-ended. Free TradingView accounts have alert limits — if you need multiple simultaneous alerts, an Essential plan or higher is recommended.

⚠️

TradingView plan limits: Free accounts support 1 active alert at a time. To run all four alerts across multiple tickers simultaneously, a TradingView Essential plan or higher is recommended.
